The Handicare 1000 straight stairlift is at home inside, or outside. It features an aluminum rail with hidden gear rack for a streamlined look and weather protection. The battery-powered rack and pinion drive is smooth and reliable. In addition to the standard seat, for indoor use, you can also select a Perch seat to ride the lift in a semi-standing position – great for those who find it difficult to transition from standing to sitting. For heavier users, the Handicare 1000 offers a 440 lb high-capacity option.

The anodized aluminum rail with hidden gear rack makes the Handicare 1000 unobtrusive and sleek looking. This also keeps the gear rack protected from weather and debris, making it well-suited for outdoor installations. The chair and carriage are finished in white with the Smart seat available in a choice of three wipe-clean vinyl colors.

Standard features and finish

4. The Handicare 1000 operates on battery power with built-in charging at the top and bottom of the stairs. If there is a power failure, the stairlift will provide several up and down trips

1000 Seat Options

The Handicare 1000 comes with the Smart seat, a compact-looking seat with a choice of three colors: cacao, sand or slate. The Smart seat can be adjusted for height, armrest width and seat depth. If you find it hard to bend down to sit, the Perch seat provides support and safety while you ride the lift semi-standing. A 5-point safety harness is also available for more security.

K2 Seat Options

The K2 offers the L seat (arms width: 17.24 – 20.39″), a traditional shape chair in beige wipe-clean vinyl with toggle switch at the end of the armrest to control up/down.

The V seat (arms width: 16.85 – 19.2″) features a more open back, which some people find more comfortable if more space is needed on the seat. The V seat includes a large toggle switch on the top of the armrest for movement control.

Safety features

An obstacle sensor on the footrest and carriage stops the lift if it encounters an obstruction.
The seat swivels and locks for safe deboarding at the top of the stairs.
The footrest includes non-skid covering and the seat includes a retractable seat belt.
An overspeed governor ensures the lift does not exceed rated speed on the descent.
